Today I caught up on my ironing for the first time in 2.5 years. It only took about three hours. It helped that many of the clothes in the basket were size 3 and 4--things that my kids simply never wore again after Alison went into the hospital with MG. People are resilient. Alison is doing amazing. Liza arrived safely. We’re surviving fine, yet there are still outstanding markers in my life that remind me that our lives changed dramatically. I’m thankful that my ironing pile isn’t one of them anymore. And also hope that I’m gentle and patient with my dear friends when their lives are hard.
