Valentine's Day

Happy Belated Valentine's Day! We had a delightful day. Valentines (like the other holidays) is much more enjoyable with kids. We had so much fun. The kids got new outfits from Grandma P and each had a secret Valentine. I made Alison a Valentine dress--although it is more just a new dress and a wee bit big. After lunch, we decorated Valentine cookies. They were very serious.
"Mmmm, yummy sprinkles!"
"Mmmmm, Mine has yummy sprinkles!"
"Mmmmm, little candy hearts and lips!""Mmmmmm, Mine has little candy hearts and lips!"
They were delicious. After working super hard decorating cookies Grandma let them open the Valentine she brought.
"I wonder what is in this little crinkly red bag.""Grandma! Did you bring me a little crinkly red bag!?!"Alison got a new baby and Stuart a small little bear that he LOVES. Also, Grandma brought suckers. Nice big red sticky suckers. (Yeah, thanks a lot Grandma.)It was a beautiful day out. We went outside with those awful, sticky, yummy, delicious suckers.
The suckers weren't dissapearing fast enough outside so I brought them inside and put them all in the bathtub. The babies were happy because they thought they were getting to eat all of their suckers and I was happy because the bathwater was dissolving them.Later, we made Valentine cards and Valentine art. Alison's is the red one and Stuart's is the pink one. Alison would not let a bear get near her art. I was so proud because it was the first instance I clearly noticed her sorting/classifying things.

After Daddy got home we took cookies and the cards we made to our friends in our neighborhood.

Happy Valentine's Day! We love you.

Meet Jolene

This is my friend Jolene. She's awesome. She has wee little Emma, who is growing up before my eyes on her happy little blog. We've been friends since our dear husbands went to Law School together and we all (husbands and Jolene and I) found ourselves in a religion class together. We've sewn together and celebrated together. She totally rocks but that isn't the point of this post. Well, I guess it sortof is. Look what she did on her cabinet backing. I'm so jealous! And Alison and Stu even more so. They wish they had a giant white board their exact height. You guys are too smart.
Also, meet Emma the amazing and committed naturist and her little bro Jack, the giant happy baby.
Miss you!

The Next Picasso

SLC Pre-Spring is all muddled up. It is like the weather can't decide which way to go, warm or cold. It's 60 one day and dumps a bunch of snow the next. Though, I'm not complaining because snow is pretty fun when you know it is going to melt pretty quickly. We made another snowman today. We utilized the lessons learned from our last snowman. The kids were so excited. We talked about the snowman while we were making bread and they have a picture of the old snowman (RIP Our Loved Little Leaner) so by the time we got outside they were ready to help. They helped push the balls of snow, they patted, the filled in low spots, they rubbed. Stuart helped rearrange all the pieces he could reach, four times, Picasso style.

Huggalugs!

This is a sort of product review (plug) for Huggalugs. We ordered them from Australia in a co-op a long while ago to keep little legs warm in the bitter cold under dresses and pants. First Australia was celebrating some holiday we don't have here, then they got stuck in customs, blah blah blah. They finally arrived and we LOVE them, just plain and mismatched even.

See, these are my pretty leggies. Nice and warm.

Yup, we're creating our own fashion over here today, four little legs looking like they were born in 1985 instead of 2005, and spinach carrot product.

Isn't Motherhood Glamorous?

This is all Mari's fault I'm afraid. While I was busy responding to this very funny post (BTW-not at all offended), Alison did her own hair with the carrot spinach soup she was finished eating for lunch.

Alison's Affliction

stick·er sick·ness [stik-er sik-nis]
–noun
1. A particular disease or malady that renders a person unable to resist the compulsion to use multiple adhesive labels

Alison has said defined problem.

She will put a dozen little bugs on Stuart's forehead while he drinks his milk after naps. He's learned to tolerate it as I have; the other day I answered the door and signed for a delivery with close to 30 stickers on my neck and face.

Pond Hockey

Stuey: There is snow all over the place where the water should be! Don't worry I'll get it. I brought my broom.

Mama: Stuey, that would be helpful but that is a lot of snow.

Stuey: It's okay, I'm an excellent snow sweeper.

Stuey: Oh, that IS a lot of snow.

Uncle Jeremy and Daddy play hockey on a big pond. The babies loved going and playing too. They adore their Uncle Jeremy who takes them on skates around the pond, floats Alison's feet along the ice, and gives them their first lessons in hockey.

Night Sledding

On Friday we went night sledding. It was a lot of fun. Stuart and Alison didn't like going down the hill so much. I think they would have liked it better if it hadn't been so cold and dark--but then of course it wouldn't have been night sledding. Stuart screamed the whole way down and then screamed and pointed when Daddy dissapeared into the darkness with Alison. Alison did better but was not interested in going a second time down the hill. They did however enjoy the doughnuts and hot chocolate provided.
