A New First

Two new firsts actually, but we'll start first with the intentional one.

This is Alison showing off her newly painted pretty fingers. I had a manicure/pedicure on Saturday during their nap. Stuart and Alison like to stroke the shiny pink nails. "Pretty toes!" So today we decided to paint Alisons for the first time.
Holding her nails very carefully, with the polish bottle tucked carefully under her arm.

Alison likes Mommy to blow on them to make sure they are dry--even though they have been for the last 20 minutes. She sometimes sits down and blows on them still.

Additionally, Stuart opened the front door by himself today. Great.

Hide-N-Seek with Alison

I can't decide which is my favorite part about playing hide-n-seek with Alison. (1)The bewildered delighted face she makes when you find her. Like in her mind she's thinking, "Mommy! You have special powers, you always find me! So fast! How on earth did you become such a fabulous seeker!?!" (2) How she tries so hard to stay still and quiet--thinking this time she's really fooled me until she can't hold it in any longer and she starts giggling--still standing very still.
She always hides in the same two places. If we're upstairs--behind the shower curtain. Downstairs, behind the rocking chair.
Ready, or not, here I come. Oh, this is an easy one. She left her pink water out to guide us to her. (Not because her little legs are sticking out underneath, or because she is giggling--loudly, or because she's hidden there the last 58 times.)

Sometimes, when I'm really lucky, I get to find two hiders. Don't worry, Stuart isn't any more stealthy.

Family Vacation

We recently met our friends from Las Vegas at Duck Creek, Utah for some outdoor fun. It was great seeing Amanda and Brian and enjoying some time with their sweet new son Finn. On the way Alison and Stuart enjoyed their first icecream cones. They gave icecream cones their official stamp of approval. This is at the red barn I mentioned last fall. Its funny because Alison thinks that we're calling icecream "I cream". She associates cream with people and says things like, "Mommy cream," "Stuey cream," "More Daddy cream!" and of course, "My cream." (also known as "Ali Cream").

Cedar Breaks. The kids are funny. I think sometimes they get a false sense of security because they have eachother. They can be walking away, in the middle of the woods without a parent and they both think it is fine because, "well, Stuey is right here" and "Don't worry, Ali's with me". Sometimes it gets them into trouble though. I found them at the stop sign at the bottom of the street together pointing and yelling at a TWUCK!

Stuart loves flowers which he affectionately calls, "fwowers."

Helping Daddy learn about the plants.
