Alison and Stuart love weekends. During the week I give Alison a one-minute hug and put her in her bed for nap. On the weekends, Daddy rocks her until I come pry her sleeping body away and put her in her crib. Today they jump on Daddy after church until everybody was worn out. Alison wants to nap next to Daddy so I scoop Stuey up and put him to bed. He falls asleep in less than a minute. I go upstairs.
Ten or more minutes later I go back down thinking it is very quiet. I see Ryan, motionless on the floor with the pink velour backed blanket, asleep and Alison running out of the room.
Alison: Daddy, Nap.
Me: Oh, you put daddy down for a nap.
Alison: Yah.
Me: That was very nice of you.
Alison: Snuggle.
Me: Oh you snuggled Daddy too.
Alison: Yah. Daddy Nap.
She's such a helpful girl. I scoop her up, kiss her, and lay her in her crib.
Grandma came up and wanted to go hiking because she is getting ready to go on her big summer hike with the church girls. We convinced her it would be much more fun if we came too, and much more realistic carrying a pack-o-baby.
We went with our friend Bonnie.
Stuart wasn't so sure about going hiking without Daddy. He was suspicious when Daddy didn't get in the car. Then Mama let Bonnie DRIVE DADDY'S CAR, and Stuart had a mini-meltdown. He's never been hiking without daddy. He decided it was still fun and other people can also carry him up mountains. He would ask though every few minutes, "Daddy?" (with upward lilt). Stuey loves to lean out of his pack to grab the trees and leaves as we go by. A cicada landed on my face and I flinched--he thought it was hysterical. He retold the story in his little baby language over and over, laughing. Alison was having troubles with the sunscreen dripping in her eyes but had a fine time too.

Both babies fell asleep on the way down because being carried up a mountain is exhausting, right?
