Happy Saint Patrick's Day
Today was awesome, and green. We woke up and had ham and green pancakes. Alison thought green was yummier than any other color of pancakes previously encountered. We took them on a hike to Ensign Peak, which overlooks the Salt Lake Valley. They are really growing to love their packs. Here they are ready to roll!
My boys, sweet things.
This is what one Daddy trying to keep two toddlers from falling off a mountain looks like.
And of course no holiday would be complete without decorating sugar cookies.

Here is a short recap of the day told by Stuart (special effects, Alison).

Alison and Her Blossoming Sense of Style
I love this little girl. A few months ago she insisted on wearing four different dresses in one happy Sunday. Each time we put her on her table for a diaper change she would pull at her clothes indicating, "Take this off! (even though I've only had it on 2 hours max)" We'd take off her rejected dress and she would point the closet. I'd take out the dresses one by one, waiting for the "uuhhhggg" reject sound in which case I'd put it back and take out the next until we found the "ahh" approval sound. I'm frightened what it will be like in a few more years and please help me when she is a teenager. She also loves socks and tights and adores her accessories---love affair with hats. Lately she is getting more and more independent at her style choices and is no longer completely satisfied with my choice.
Exhibit A: I took this a few minutes ago right before her nap. She had jeans on which we traded for a knitted bum sweater of my creation while my visiting teachers were here, which then were traded for hot pink velour at diaper change. Coupled charmingly with a Santa hat she put on herself and a Santa coat she chased me around begging.

Exhibit B: The layered look. Nice neutral onsie with hooded fairisle sweater, accessorized with fabulous Santa hat and pink Huggalugs. Nice work, again.

Exhibit C: Perfectly chosen to show off that gorgeous figure. We were given a lovely bag of hand me downs and these were her favorites. An oversized hat (size 4) paired with ruffled pants and her pediped shoes. I love you baby!

Snowshoeing
We took the twins and myself snowshoeing for the first time. It was so much fun and so beautiful. We hiked to a place up Big Cottonwood Canyon called Donut Falls. Ryan and I both agreed we loved the peace and quiet and beauty of a snowy hike. I was also amazed with how low impact snowshoeing is. You get your heart rate up and work out but you don't feel in it all your bones and muscles the next day. The weather was in the 20s but it was sunny and beautiful.

I thought this picture was so funny. I guess during the summer you can drive closer to the trailhead. We had to hike from the highway. This is near the trailhead.
This is the cave where the fall is located. The fall falls through a hole in the ceiling within this cave. I understand in the summer you can see the fall through the opening but with the snow so high you have to go right up to the cave and peer in... carefully. It was awesome.
This is a picture I took from the cave opening.

Breakfast at Our House
"Stuart, give me some juice!"
"Mama, Stuart won't give me any juice."
"But Mama! I NEED two juices."
"I do NEED two juices Alison. I'm a very thirsty juice drinker. Quit eyeing my juice!"

"But Mama! I NEED two juices."
Stuart has become such a little hoarder of good things. Even if he isn't hungry enough to eat something, he will not stand for it to be given to the other toddler.
