Trying to escape the heat last Saturday we went on a new hike to Solitude Lake (trailhead off of Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon). The lake isn't so spectacular but the route (3.7 miles round trip) is great, especially for groups with kids. The temps were in the 70's--even though SLC was over 100--and most of the trail spun through aspen groves or small meadows of wildflowers. Next time, we'll remember to bring bug repellent.

I need to come by more often and catch up. Your family does the most wonderful things. What a mother you are!
that looks beautiful! Good to get away from the heat too!
